Meditation & You

Updated: Sep 12, 2019

Let's clear some things up, shall we?

Common Myths about Meditation:

"Am I doing it wrong?" - No. You showed up, you tried, you decided to get still and go inward, even for a breath. As far as I'm concerned: you win. You did good! (There really is no winning or losing, or good or bad - but we'll get to that later.)

"I'm still thinking - I can't shut my brain off - isn't it supposed to be blank up there?" - In a word, again, no. Our "monkey mind" as so many wise people refer to it, is all over the place. Thru our meditation, with practice, and consistency - we can create SPACE in between the thoughts, we can find wisdom, love, joy, clarity and connection in that space. And my friends, I swear, it is well worth the effort! It is worth at least trying.

"What if I've never meditated before?" - To that, I say two things: 1) no time like the present, and 2) since the moment we came in to this world, we've had to CONSTANTLY do things we've never done before. That is how we learn, how we grow, how we connect, how we enjoy life - so why stop now?

"Do I have to be Buddhist? What if I belong to a certain religion?" - I'm going to tread lightly here and air on the side of simplicity. You do NOT have to be Buddhist and I know many people who "belong/practice" different types of religions who ALSO meditate. Or they equate meditation to prayer. There are science-based benefits now, that have been tested and proven to support the act of meditation, that put it in the same category as breathing deeply, eating well & exercising, when it comes to the positive effects meditation can have on the brain and body. If you want to have an emotional or spiritual experience with your meditation practice, I believe that is entirely up to you.

"Which STYLE/TYPE of meditation is the best/the correct one?" - Again, this is for you to explore and decide for yourself. I urge you to stay open & curious and enjoy the journey.

In my humble opinion & experience, when we meditate we honor and love ourselves in the most beautiful way. Through meditation, you connect with your truest self. The joy and the clarity you're looking for are right there, waiting for you to arrive, be present to it, and then soar with gratitude.

The grace & compassion that comes from mediation & mindfulness can help us transform old habits and limiting beliefs into empowering affirmations and loving right action. The gifts & tools that come from these practices can help us build the life of our dreams, while simultaneously teaching us to be happy with everything we already have in front of us. And that's just the tip of the iceberg!

The bottom line...

I think all our answers and all our bliss can be found through meditation & mindfulness practices. So whether you do it with me, at a studio, or through an app, PLEASE meditate.

There's no wrong way to do it and even 5 minutes a day will make all the difference in the world. This incredible gift of self-love and connection is yours, now & always. You simply need to show up & try.

I wish you much love and a joyous journey. It's a good day for a good day, my friends & I wish you a beautiful one.

In gratitude,

Miracle
